Stockholm hosts ELRC workshop
The ELRC workshop in Stockholm, Sweden, was held on March 10, 2016, at the Europe House. The event was hosted by Lars Bolin from the Swedish Langage Bank and Rickard Domeij of the Swedish Language Council.
At the workshop, the head of the European Commission in Sweden, Catherine Areskoug Mascharenhas, made the opening remarks. Andrejs Vasiļjevs of the ELRC consortium introduced the guests, who numbered more than 50, to the aims and goals of the ELRC action.
The workshop also included insightful presentation on language technology, multilingualism, and the benefits of CEF.AT by Mary Sjostrom Gisslén of the European Commission in Sweden, Jeffrey Ganellen of the Swedish Foreign Ministry's Translation Service, Rihards Kalniņš of the ELRC consortium, Spyridon Pilos of DG-Translation (who spoke via Skype), and Anna Sågvall Hein of Uppsala University.
At the end of the day, the local hosts of the event -- Lars Bolin from the Swedish Langage Bank and Rickard Domeij of the Swedish Language Council -- moderated a lively question and answer session with the assembled participants.
